This weekend, you have the opportunity to test out the new Overwatch 2 support hero Juno.
Fans of Overwatch 2 eager for new content following the recent Transformers crossover won’t have to wait much longer. Blizzard has revealed details about the next hero joining the game, and players will have the opportunity to test her out as early as this weekend.
Her name is Juno and she is a support. This hero was teased by the publisher at BlizzCon 2023 (where he was simply referred to as Space Ranger) and in-game for the past few weeks. Now her spaceship has landed on this colorful version of near-future Earth – Juno is the game’s first playable Martian character.
The game’s trailer gives an idea of Juno’s abilities and how they work. His main weapon is called the Mediblaster. It seems to work similarly to Ana’s biotic rifle in that it can heal allies and damage enemies, though it’s not clear if each one has a different fire mode. One of his abilities, Pulsar Torpedoes, can lock onto multiple targets to heal and damage as well.
However, unlike Ana, Juno has pass-through abilities. Glide Boost allows him to rise in the air. He can also temporarily grant himself and his teammates speed – and perhaps the ability to jump higher – thanks to the Hyper Ring.
As for Juno’s extreme, it’s called the Orbital Ray. It’s a beam from a moving satellite on the map that heals allies and increases damage. Details on exactly how all the abilities work haven’t been announced, so we’ll likely have to wait until Juno arrives in the game for the full lowdown.
Fortunately, it’s a short wait. Juno is available in all modes except Competitive during the trial weekend, which runs from July 19th to July 21st. No Limits mode is in Arcade, so it’s likely that we’ll see two teams of five Junos battling each other. players get access to the newcomer.
On the rare occasions that I do act other than Mystery Heroes, I usually do a supporting role, so I can’t wait to try Juno. He has great looks and the features of an excellent kit, as long as it is smartly balanced. Juno will join the lineup permanently when Overwatch 2 Season 12 begins on August 20th.
